Expedition Log | 418.E.334

Jon informed me today that Ursula is getting the hang of the language. She still acts confused by questions and seems unable to tell us where she came from, but she can at least tell us her needs. Dr. Billings assures me she is in good physical health, which is frankly astonishing. I want to take her up to the Uriel so we can look at her with the full resources of the ship, but on this point Lt. Price has put his foot down and refused to budge. As irritating as it is, I have to admit he has a point.

For the time being, therefore, we have her here at Hab1. Thus far it seems she is the only human here. She must be the last remaining descendant of those that survived the old mission, this Cabot. Best estimate puts that at around 5 centuries ago. That makes her maybe the 15th generation. We have no idea yet how the rest died out. Ursula doesn’t seem to understand the question. We did find a few graves, but not enough to account for 15 generations of humans living here. It could be anything though. Hopefully at some point Ursula can give us a clue.
